Want to serve your favorite pup a healthy and satisfying homemade meal? Watch your furry friend jump for joy with our founder’s Chicken and Rice pet recipe, made with love for her Havanese doggies.

How to Make Roda’s Chicken and Rice for Your Dog:

Ingredients (Enough for 5 Days Worth of Meals for 2 Average-Sized Dogs):
  • 3 Costco chicken thighs
  • 1 small pot of rice
  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Dash of course salt, pepper, and paprika

Cooking directions: (total cook time 20 minutes)

1. Heat 2 1/2 cups water just to boiling and then add 1 1/2 cups of rice. Pour in a little olive oil and stir. Cook rice rapidly, uncovered.

(TIP: Roda measures by eye so use your best judgement on how much rice you need.)

Pet Recipe: Boil the rice for the chicken and rice recipe
2. Sauté the seasoned chicken in a nonstick pan on medium-high heat. Lightly coat with the grapeseed oil. Turn the chicken in about 5 minutes then reduce heat to medium and continue until both sides are nice and brown with a slight crispness – 15 minutes.
(TIP: You may need to cover the pan of chicken to prevent oil splashing.)
Pet Recipe: Smash up the chicken and rice to make it easier for dogs to eat.
3. On a chopping board, cut the chicken into tiny pieces.

(TIP: Roda likes to buy the bone in from Costco which is less expensive. She chops up some bone marrow and gristle to add in!)

Pet Recipe: Add the chicken to the rice.
4. Empty rice into a large storage container bowl then add chopped chicken.

(TIP: Scrape the pan drippings into the mixture for extra yumminess!)

Pet Recipe: Mix the chicken and rice together.

5. Stir the chicken and rice with a spoon. You can separate into individual portions to prepare for the week if you wish. When it is ready for mealtime, serve up a nice portion in a clean doggie dish! Bon Appétit our furry friends!

*Option: add a supplement like Ultra Oil (with sardine, anchovy, hempseed oils and Omega 3, 6 & 9 oils.)
